Lace City Chorus are delighted to announce that Ellie Blackeby has been appointed as the chorus Musical Director.
Ellie has led the chorus in her role as Interim Musical Director since May 2020 and accepted the role permanently this week.
Deborah Pollard, Management Team Coordinator said: “I have seen Ellie grow as a barbershopper and leader over many years, I know we couldn't wish for a better person to take on this role. Ellie has a deep passion for the chorus and cares about every member. She has demonstrated inspirational musical leadership and unparalleled pastoral care for chorus members. Lace City is in safe hands as we move forward together.”
Ellie has been a member of Lace City Chorus since the age of 14. She was introduced to barbershop by her school teacher, and former Lace City director Glenn Chaney.
Ellie has a huge amount of experience and talent and has achieved great things both regionally and internationally.
She has an impressive track record of quartet success and is a previous Rising Star champion, regional gold medalist and has earned a top 15 International placement. She has competed as a member of Lace City, winning six gold medals and competing internationally.
She has recently been appointed as a member of the Region 31 faculty in recognition of her many skills and talents.
Ellie Blackeby said: “It's a huge honour to be offered the opportunity to guide the Lace City Chorus on the next step of their amazing journey. I’ve spent 2/3 of my life as a member of Lace City Chorus and it's impossible to explain how much they mean to me.”
The chorus are hoping to return to face to face rehearsals later this year when it’s safe to do so.
