The Most Exciting News Ever!

Lace City Chorus are delighted to announce that Ellie Blackeby has been appointed as the chorus Musical Director.

Ellie has led the chorus in her role as Interim Musical Director since May 2020 and accepted the role permanently this week.

Deborah Pollard, Management Team Coordinator said: “I have seen Ellie grow as a barbershopper and leader over many years, I know we couldn't wish for a better person to take on this role. Ellie has a deep passion for the chorus and cares about every member. She has demonstrated inspirational musical leadership and unparalleled pastoral care for chorus members. Lace City is in safe hands as we move forward together.”

Learn to Love Your Voice!

Lace City Chorus is a highly successful acapella chorus based in the county of Nottinghamshire, UK. During the Covid-19 pandemic we have taken our rehearsals online using "Zoom" video conferencing.

Despite not being able to sing in person, we haven't let it stop us from learning new songs, developing our singing skills and having fun together.

We want to extend this experience to YOU by inviting you to join our three week 'love your voice' event. This will allow you to learn two songs with the regular chorus, learn how to make the best of your voice and take part in a virtual recording.

We celebrate everyone’s uniqueness, so regardless of your experience or type of voice, try it out for three weeks and become a part of creating something beautiful.

Sing We Noel!

Grab a glass of mulled wine, get cosy on your sofa and watch our gift to you. We recorded this song to wish our friends and family Merry Christmas.

Christmas isn’t going to be what we’d hoped this year but however you’re celebrating may your Christmas be filled with laughter and cheer.

Lace City Tribute to Glenn Chaney

A few weeks ago we held a party, via Zoom, to say farewell and thank you to our friend, mentor and creator of Lace City Chorus, Mr Glenn Chaney. Glenn retired this year after 27 years as Musical Director of the chorus. Throughout his barbershop career he has enriched the lives of so many people through his passion and genuine love for making music.

Glenn is described as a gentleman, a pioneer, gracious and ambitious.

Ellie Blackeby appointed Interim Music Director

We’re delighted to announce that Ellie Blackeby has been appointed as interim Musical Director of Lace City Chorus. Ellie is exceptionally talented, experienced and inspirational and we’re very excited to grow under her leadership.

Ellie has been a member of Lace City since she was 14 and has led the bass section and been assistant director for many years. She has a wealth of experience and has competed internationally with the chorus and in various quartets.

CORONAVIRUS

Following the cancellation of our Spring Fling earlier this month, we can confirm that face to face rehearsals are cancelled until further notice.  We are investigating ways of using technology to allow us to practise our art - watch this space for further details!

Important News: February 2020

We are sad to announce that after 27 years of directing Lace City Chorus Glenn Chaney has stepped down to pursue new adventures.

Glenn set up the chorus in 1992 and has been an inspirational leader. We want to thank him for his dedicated service, love for barbershop and passion for beautiful music which has developed and grown the chorus over the years.

We’re sad to say farewell to Glenn but are continuing to meet each week to do what we do best – sing in harmony!

Our musical team are doing an excellent job of steering us through the next few months as we appoint a new director.
