A cappella singers, Lace City Chorus, are returning to the stage with a show packed full of Christmas magic. The performance will take you on a journey of Christmas traditions from around the world, with some of the chorus’ dynamic show songs thrown in too.

Lace City Chorus is inviting women of all ages and backgrounds to join them to Sing This Summer. Girls aged 14yrs and upwards are also welcome to attend. Come along and learn the chart topping song ‘Hold My Hand’ by Jess Glynne in 4 part acappella harmony. It doesn’t matter whether you have any singing experience, or even if you think you can’t sing. This is a brilliant opportunity to come and have fun and experience the joy of singing in harmony with a large, friendly chorus.
Lace City Chorus are delighted to announce that Ellie Blackeby has been appointed as the chorus Musical Director.
Ellie has led the chorus in her role as Interim Musical Director since May 2020 and accepted the role permanently this week.
Deborah Pollard, Management Team Coordinator said: “I have seen Ellie grow as a barbershopper and leader over many years, I know we couldn't wish for a better person to take on this role. Ellie has a deep passion for the chorus and cares about every member. She has demonstrated inspirational musical leadership and unparalleled pastoral care for chorus members. Lace City is in safe hands as we move forward together.”
Lace City Chorus is a highly successful acapella chorus based in the county of Nottinghamshire, UK. During the Covid-19 pandemic we have taken our rehearsals online using "Zoom" video conferencing.
Despite not being able to sing in person, we haven't let it stop us from learning new songs, developing our singing skills and having fun together.
We want to extend this experience to YOU by inviting you to join our three week 'love your voice' event. This will allow you to learn two songs with the regular chorus, learn how to make the best of your voice and take part in a virtual recording.
We celebrate everyone’s uniqueness, so regardless of your experience or type of voice, try it out for three weeks and become a part of creating something beautiful.

Christmas isn’t going to be what we’d hoped this year but however you’re celebrating may your Christmas be filled with laughter and cheer.

We were delighted to welcome 72 new faces as we virtually opened the doors of zoom and hosted an open rehearsal.
Visitors were given a taste of a virtual Lace City Chorus rehearsal which included an opportunity to explore their voice using a simple exercise. They then chose a voice part and in four break out rooms the Basses, Baritones, Leads and Tenors learnt a section of the Greatest Showman hit, This Is Me. After only 20 minutes everyone came together and sang through the song in four part harmony.
While the chorus aren’t able to meet in person we are still rehearsing each week. Members dial in from the comfort of their own homes and then it’s business as usual with a check in, physical and vocal warm up and dedicated music development.

Throughout lockdown the Lace City Chorus held weekly rehearsals via Zoom to help keep the members connected, spirits up, and provide them an opportunity to grow as singers.
The chorus are unable to hold concerts this year due to Covid-19 restrictions so they have decided to dedicate an online performance and help raise funds for the Nottingham founded charity When You Wish Upon a Star. Each chorus member has made an audio and video recording and with the expertise of a fellow barbershop singer they have created this virtual choir performance of The Beatles classic ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’.
A few weeks ago we held a party, via Zoom, to say farewell and thank you to our friend, mentor and creator of Lace City Chorus, Mr Glenn Chaney. Glenn retired this year after 27 years as Musical Director of the chorus. Throughout his barbershop career he has enriched the lives of so many people through his passion and genuine love for making music.
Glenn is described as a gentleman, a pioneer, gracious and ambitious.
And through these crazy times you're my everything ....
